About Your New Role

The Senior Data Analyst will manage and lead the NSIN Data Cell. The NSIN Data Cell has the exciting task of leading NSIN’s use of data to evaluate NSIN’s progress as an organization and by acting as a leader in driving the organization to increasingly adopt data and its use as a core component of decision making. You will be a key player as you lead the Data Cell through its collection, assessment, and representation of NSIN’s performance data. You will also craft new ways for the organization to use internally and externally available data in the organization’s processes, and implement these ideas within the organization by contributing in the following ways: add data-driven insights to enterprise and staff level strategic and operational decision making. The NSIN Data Cell is a team of three, including the Senior Data Analyst who will act as team lead.

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for overseeing a team of two Data Analysts. The team lead will manage the day-to-day work of the Data Cell team and work as a team member to provide necessary data-driven insights such as the successful execution of core data cell responsibilities. This role also includes leading the data-cell in proactively and responsively providing data-driven insights at the request of the Managing Director and Chief of Staff. (40%) The Senior Data Analyst will contribute to the Data Cell’s work by providing independent data analysis. (40%)

The Senior Data Analyst will also lead and manage the selection, implementation, and use of any required data analysis platforms leveraged by the Data Cell. (20%)

The Senior Data Analyst reports to the Chief of Staff and helps lead the Data Cell team as it pursues NSIN’s mission.

To Crush this Role, You’ll Need to Bring

  • A proven track record of success in leading Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Database Management, and/or a combination of all three in a corporate or government setting

  • Expertise in communicating complex data insights for those without a data background

  • Deep knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Data Analysis

  • Prior experience with relational databases / DBMS and related programming languages, such as SQL, R, and Python;

  • Prior ETL experience; and

  • Experience with one or more data visualization tools. such as Tableau, Domo, Google Analytics, Salesforce, or Power BI

  • Possess at least an earned B.A./B.S. degree in Computer Science, MIS, Statistics, or other field related to data analysis from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (or international equivalent)

  • Foresight, maturity, and the ability to present thoughtful and data-led solutions to complex problems

  • Strong interpersonal communications skills, including oral and written skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • A willingness and aptitude to operate successfully as a part of a team that is distributed geographically Demonstrated experience leading a team or teams (Preferred)

  • Experience implementing new large scale data platform across an organization (Preferred)

  • Experience teaching an organization to become more data-driven (Preferred) U.S. Citizenship required


The incumbent will be hired by NSIN’s prime federal contractor, and the position will be compensated at a level equivalent to a GS-13.
